The Mission

When last-minute changes derailed a Mission Impossible-themed F1 activation, we were faced with a daunting challenge: an empty stand, a single graphic, and a looming live event.

That’s when Velocity Experience, a leading sports activation agency, called on Snapmatix to step in and deliver an engaging AI photo booth brand activation that could save the day.

The Call to Action

On the Monday — just one week before the live event — we received the brief: design and deliver a captivating AI photo booth experience to fill the space. With a 2.5m ceiling height, a semi-outdoor environment, and a tight deadline, the odds were stacked against us.

Inspiration Strikes

We found our breakthrough in an iconic Mission Impossible image of Tom Cruise clinging to the back of a train. Despite technical hurdles, we knew this was the key to creating an unforgettable AI-powered photo booth for sports events.

Creating the Experience

  • On-Site Mock-ups: Initial test shots were mocked up in our workshop, but most of the development was completed live onsite.
  • AI Magic: Using the Snapmatix AI background removal service, participants were seamlessly placed into the action scene.
  • User Guidance: An overhead relay screen helped guests align themselves perfectly, with a brand ambassador guiding them through the process.
  • Cinematic Finish: A film grain filter harmonised each capture with the Mission Impossible backdrop, ensuring a polished, cinematic look.

The Big Reveal

Final images were displayed instantly on-screen, and users could scan a QR code for their digital takeaway — making the AI photo booth activation both interactive and highly shareable.
